이 글에 나오는 중요한 단어는 맨 아래 단어장에 발음 기호와 함께 정리해 두었습니다.
All key words in this article are listed with pronunciation at the bottom of the page.

자음 14개와 모음 10개를 모두 외웠는데도 한국어 간판 앞에서 멈춘다면, 부족한 것은 암기가 아니라 읽기 훈련량입니다.
If you have memorized all 14 consonants and 10 vowels but still freeze in front of a Korean sign, what you lack is not memorization but reading practice.
한글은 몇 시간이면 원리를 익힐 수 있게 설계된 문자지만, 글자를 아는 것과 빠르게 읽어내는 것은 전혀 다른 능력입니다.
Hangul is designed so that you can grasp its principles in just a few hours, but knowing the letters and reading them quickly are two completely different skills.
4부는 1부부터 3부까지 배운 원리를 실제 읽기 속도로 바꾸는 마지막 실전 단계입니다.
Part 4 is the final practical stage that turns the principles you learned in Parts 1 through 3 into real reading speed.
조합표를 소리 내어 읽고, 좋아하는 아이돌 이름과 익숙한 노래 제목으로 훈련하고, 마지막에는 짧은 문장까지 끊어 읽습니다.
You will read the syllable chart aloud, train with the names of your favorite idols and familiar song titles, and finally read short sentences in natural chunks.
이 글을 끝까지 따라 하면 한국어 콘텐츠를 스스로 읽어 나갈 수 있는 기초 체력이 완성됩니다.
If you follow this article to the end, you will build the basic stamina to read Korean content on your own.
1. 자모 조합표 활용법
1. How to Use the Hangul Syllable Chart

읽기 속도를 만드는 가장 확실한 도구는 자모 조합표입니다.
The most reliable tool for building reading speed is the Hangul syllable chart.
자음 14개를 세로에, 모음 10개를 가로에 배열하면 받침 없는 음절이 한 화면에 모두 정리됩니다.
When you place the 14 consonants down the side and the 10 vowels across the top, every syllable without a final consonant fits on a single screen.
이 표를 눈으로만 훑지 말고 반드시 소리 내어 읽어야 합니다.
Do not simply scan this chart with your eyes; you must read it aloud.
읽는 순서는 두 가지입니다.
There are two reading orders.
첫째, 가로로 읽기입니다.
First, read across.
가나다라마바사아자차카타파하까지 자음 순서대로 읽어 내려갑니다.
Read through the consonant order from ga, na, da, ra, ma, ba, sa, a, ja, cha, ka, ta, pa all the way to ha.
둘째, 세로로 읽기입니다.
Second, read down.
가거고구그기, 나너노누느니, 다더도두드디 순서로 같은 자음이 모음을 갈아입는 흐름을 익힙니다.
Follow the flow of a single consonant changing its vowel, as in ga-geo-go-gu-geu-gi, na-neo-no-nu-neu-ni, and da-deo-do-du-deu-di.
파포푸프피까지 빠짐없이 읽으면 받침 없는 모든 음절을 한 번에 훈련하게 됩니다.
By reading all the way through pa-po-pu-peu-pi without skipping, you train every syllable without a final consonant in one pass.
하루에 한 번, 처음부터 끝까지 막힘없이 읽는 데 걸리는 시간을 재 보세요.
Once a day, time yourself reading the chart from beginning to end without stumbling.
처음에는 3분이 걸리던 표가 일주일 뒤에는 1분 안에 끝납니다.
A chart that takes three minutes at first will be finished within one minute after a week.
오늘 바로 읽을 수 있는 글자에 하나씩 표시해 두면 자신의 진도가 눈에 보입니다.
If you mark each character you can already read today, your progress becomes visible.

2. 아이돌 이름으로 연습하기
2. Practicing with Idol Group Names

조합표를 읽을 수 있게 되면 곧바로 실제 낱말로 넘어갑니다.
Once you can read the chart, move straight on to real words.
가장 좋은 재료는 이미 알고 있는 아이돌 그룹 이름입니다.
The best material is the idol group names you already know.
방탄소년단, 블랙핑크, 뉴진스, 세븐틴, 에스파처럼 좋아하는 이름을 골라 보세요.
Choose a name you like, such as Bangtan Sonyeondan, Blackpink, NewJeans, Seventeen, or Aespa.
훈련 방법은 분해와 조립입니다.
The training method is breaking apart and reassembling.
먼저 한 글자를 초성, 중성, 종성으로 나눕니다.
First, split one character into its initial, medial, and final sounds.
예를 들어 방은 초성 ㅂ, 중성 ㅏ, 종성 ㅇ으로 나뉩니다.
For example, bang splits into the initial b, the medial a, and the final ng.
나눈 조각을 다시 하나로 합쳐 소리 내어 읽습니다.
Then put the pieces back together and read the character aloud.
이 과정을 반복하면 글자를 통째로 외우는 습관에서 벗어나 구조를 보는 눈이 생깁니다.
Repeating this process frees you from memorizing characters as whole shapes and trains your eye to see their structure.
이름은 이미 발음을 알고 있기 때문에 자신이 맞게 읽었는지 스스로 확인할 수 있습니다.
Because you already know how these names sound, you can check for yourself whether you read them correctly.
정답을 아는 상태에서 하는 연습이라 교정 속도가 훨씬 빠릅니다.
Since you practice while already knowing the answer, you correct your mistakes far more quickly.
3. 노래와 영화 제목으로 연습하기
3. Practicing with Song and Film Titles

이름 다음은 제목입니다.
After names come titles.
다이너마이트, 봄날, 하우 유 라이크 댓 같은 노래 제목과 기생충, 오징어 게임, 부산행 같은 영화와 드라마 제목을 소리 내어 읽습니다.
Read aloud song titles such as Dynamite, Bomnal, and How You Like That, along with film and drama titles such as Gisaengchung, Ojingeo Geim, and Busanhaeng.
제목 연습에는 두 가지 장점이 있습니다.
Practicing with titles has two advantages.
하나는 글자 수가 늘어나면서 자연스럽게 호흡이 길어진다는 점입니다.
One is that as the number of characters increases, your reading breath naturally lengthens.
두 글자 이름에서 다섯 글자, 일곱 글자 제목으로 넘어가면 읽기 지구력이 붙습니다.
Moving from two-character names to five- and seven-character titles builds reading endurance.
다른 하나는 외래어 표기를 함께 익힌다는 점입니다.
The other is that you learn how foreign words are written in Hangul.
다이너마이트나 하우 유 라이크 댓처럼 영어를 한글로 옮긴 제목은 한국어 콘텐츠 곳곳에 등장하므로 반드시 익숙해져야 합니다.
Titles that transcribe English into Hangul, such as Dynamite or How You Like That, appear throughout Korean content, so you must become comfortable with them.
이미 뜻과 소리를 알고 있는 제목이라 발음이 맞았는지 스스로 채점하기 쉽습니다.
Because you already know both the meaning and the sound of these titles, it is easy to grade your own pronunciation.
틀렸다고 느껴지는 글자만 따로 모아 다시 조합표로 돌아가 확인하세요.
Collect only the characters that feel wrong and go back to the syllable chart to check them.
4. 짧은 문장 읽기
4. Reading Short Sentences

마지막 단계는 문장입니다.
The final stage is sentences.
좋아하는 노래 가사 한 소절이나 인터뷰 자막 한 문장을 골라 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다.
Choose one line from a song you like or one sentence from interview subtitles and practice reading it in chunks.
목표는 분명합니다.
The goal is clear.
음절 단위로 멈추지 않고 낱말 단위로 넘어가는 것입니다.
It is to stop pausing at every syllable and move forward word by word.
초보 학습자는 안녕하세요를 안, 녕, 하, 세, 요 다섯 번에 나누어 읽습니다.
A beginner reads annyeonghaseyo in five separate pieces: an, nyeong, ha, se, yo.
훈련이 쌓이면 안녕하세요를 한 덩어리로 읽습니다.
With enough practice, you read annyeonghaseyo as a single chunk.
이 차이가 읽기 속도를 결정합니다.
This difference is what determines your reading speed.
연습할 때는 낱말과 낱말 사이에서만 숨을 쉬고, 글자와 글자 사이에서는 멈추지 않는다는 규칙을 지켜 보세요.
While practicing, follow one rule: breathe only between words, never between characters.
처음에는 어색하지만 같은 문장을 열 번만 반복하면 흐름이 잡힙니다.
It feels awkward at first, but repeating the same sentence just ten times will settle the rhythm.
하루에 한 문장이면 충분합니다.
One sentence a day is enough.
여기까지 오셨다면 1부부터 4부까지 한글 읽기 과정을 모두 완주하신 것입니다.
If you have made it this far, you have completed the entire Hangul reading course from Part 1 to Part 4.
너무나 수고하셨습니다.
You have done truly well.
이제 자신감을 가지고 실전 회화나 다양한 한국 가이드로 넘어가셔도 됩니다.
Now you can move on with confidence to practical conversation or to various guides about Korea.
다만 한글 문장 조합의 원리까지는 공부하시고 진행하시길 권장합니다.
That said, we recommend studying the principles of Korean sentence construction before you move on.
물론 부족할 수 있습니다.
Of course, you may still feel that it is not enough.
언어는 쌓여가는 것입니다.
A language is something you build up over time.
이제 여러분은 한글 읽기의 기초를 튼튼히 쌓았습니다.
You have now built a solid foundation in reading Hangul.
1부에서 4부, 그리고 한글 문장 조합의 원리는 반복해서 보시기 바랍니다.
Review Parts 1 through 4 and the principles of Korean sentence construction again and again.
그럼 다음 시간 한글 문장 조합의 원리에서 뵙겠습니다.
Then we will see you next time in the principles of Korean sentence construction

■ FAQ
Q1. 조합표는 하루에 몇 번 읽어야 하나요?
Q1. How many times a day should I read the syllable chart?
A1. 하루 한 번, 처음부터 끝까지 막힘없이 읽는 것을 목표로 하세요. 횟수보다 매일 빠뜨리지 않는 것이 중요합니다.
A1. Aim to read it once a day from beginning to end without stumbling. Reading it every day matters more than how many times you read it.
Q2. 받침이 있는 글자는 어떻게 연습하나요?
Q2. How do I practice characters with final consonants?
A2. 조합표는 받침 없는 음절을 다룹니다. 받침은 아이돌 이름과 제목 연습에서 자연스럽게 반복되므로, 3부에서 배운 받침 규칙을 떠올리며 소리 내어 읽으면 됩니다.
A2. The chart covers syllables without final consonants. Final consonants repeat naturally in the idol name and title exercises, so simply recall the rules from Part 3 and read aloud.
Q3. 읽기는 되는데 뜻을 모르겠습니다.
Q3. I can read, but I do not understand the meaning.
A3. 지금 단계의 목표는 뜻이 아니라 소리입니다. 읽는 속도가 안정되면 낱말의 뜻은 회화와 콘텐츠를 통해 빠르게 붙습니다.
A3. At this stage the goal is sound, not meaning. Once your reading speed stabilizes, vocabulary meaning follows quickly through conversation and content.
