Part 2 leaves Seoul behind.

앨범 표지와 뮤직비디오에 담긴 장면 대부분이 지방에서 촬영되었기 때문입니다.
Most of the scenes on album covers and in music videos were shot outside the capital.

이번 편에서는 강원도 동해안의 두 곳, 강릉 주문진 향호해변과 삼척 맹방해변을 다룹니다.
This installment covers two spots on the east coast of Gangwon Province: Hyangho Beach in Jumunjin, Gangneung, and Maengbang Beach in Samcheok.

서울에서 KTX로 두 시간이면 닿고, 두 곳은 다시 한 시간 거리라 하루 안에 묶을 수 있습니다.
Both are two hours from Seoul by KTX and an hour apart from each other, so they fit into a single day.

두 해변 모두 촬영지이기 이전에 지역을 대표하는 관광지라, 함께 가는 일행이 팬이 아니어도 하루가 아깝지 않습니다.
Both beaches were regional landmarks long before they were filming locations, so the day holds up even if your companion is not a fan.

 

1. 주문진 향호해변, 바다를 향한 버스정류장
1. Hyangho Beach in Jumunjin, a Bus Stop Facing the Sea

강릉시 주문진읍 향호리에 있는 향호해변은 원래 조용한 해수욕장이었습니다.
Hyangho Beach in Hyangho-ri, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung, was once a quiet swimming beach.

지금은 이곳을 찾는 사람 대부분이 같은 곳을 향합니다.
Now nearly everyone who comes here heads for the same spot.

백사장 한쪽에 놓인 파란 버스정류장입니다.
A blue bus stop standing at one end of the sand.

이 정류장은 앨범 자켓 촬영을 위해 세워진 구조물입니다.
The stop is a structure built for an album cover shoot.

촬영 후 철거되었다가 방문객이 계속 늘자 지자체가 실물을 다시 만들어 상시 개방했습니다.
It was dismantled after filming, but as visitors kept coming, the local government rebuilt it and opened it permanently.

실제로 버스가 서지는 않습니다.
No bus actually stops there.

사진을 남기실 때 알아 두실 점이 있습니다.
There is something worth knowing before you take your photo.

정류장은 바다를 등지고 앉는 구조라, 인물과 수평선이 한 화면에 들어옵니다.
You sit with your back to the sea, which puts both you and the horizon in one frame.

오전에는 해가 정면에서 들어와 역광이 되므로, 오후 늦은 시간이 촬영에 유리합니다.
In the morning the sun comes straight at you and backlights the shot, so late afternoon works better.

정류장 외에도 해변 곳곳에 포토존이 마련되어 있고, 주변에 카페와 식당이 모여 있습니다.
Beyond the bus stop there are photo spots along the beach, with cafes and restaurants clustered nearby.

주문진항이 가까워 회와 물회를 먹기에도 좋은 위치입니다.
Jumunjin Port is close by, making it a good place for raw fish and cold raw fish soup.

입장료는 없고 개방 시간도 따로 없습니다.
There is no admission fee and no set opening hours.

다만 성수기 주말에는 정류장 앞에 줄이 길게 늘어서니, 평일 방문을 권합니다.
On peak-season weekends, though, the line in front of the stop gets long, so a weekday visit is better.

 

2. 삼척 맹방해변, 앨범 재킷이 그대로 남은 자리
2. Maengbang Beach in Samcheok, Where the Album Cover Still Stands

강릉에서 남쪽으로 한 시간 정도 내려가면 삼척시 근덕면의 맹방해변이 나옵니다.
An hour south of Gangneung lies Maengbang Beach in Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok.

이곳은 버터 앨범 재킷을 촬영한 장소입니다.
This is where the Butter album cover was shot.

특별한 점은 촬영 소품이 그대로 남아 있다는 것입니다.
What sets it apart is that the props are still there.

선베드와 파라솔, 비치발리볼 네트와 심판 의자가 촬영 당시 배치대로 설치되어 있고, 앨범 표지가 새겨진 노란 표지판과 대형 조형물도 함께 있습니다.
The sun bed, parasol, beach volleyball net, and umpire chair stand in their original positions, alongside a yellow signboard bearing the album cover and a large sculpture.

앨범을 손에 들고 같은 자세를 취하는 방문객을 흔히 볼 수 있습니다.
You will often see visitors holding the album and striking the same poses.

가장 인기 있는 소품은 선베드입니다.
The sun bed is the most popular prop.

일반적인 해변 선베드와 달리 바다를 등지도록 놓여 있는데, 앉은 사람과 바다를 한 화면에 담기 위한 배치입니다.
Unlike an ordinary beach lounger, it faces away from the water, an arrangement that captures both the person and the sea in one frame.

맹방해변은 촬영지가 되기 전부터 삼척을 대표하는 해수욕장이었습니다.
Maengbang was Samcheok's signature beach long before it became a filming location.

백사장이 길고 완만해 걷기 좋고, 봄에는 인근에 유채꽃밭이 열립니다.
The sand is long and gently sloped for walking, and in spring a canola flower field opens nearby.

바람이 강한 날에는 관리자가 파라솔을 접어 두므로, 소품이 완전한 상태의 사진을 원하신다면 바람이 잔잔한 날을 고르시는 편이 좋습니다.
On windy days the caretaker folds the parasol down, so if you want the props fully set up, pick a calm day.

 

3. 하루 동선으로 묶는 방법
3. How to Combine Them into One Day

두 곳을 하루에 도는 것이 이번 편의 핵심입니다.
Covering both in a single day is the point of this installment.

순서와 교통편을 정리합니다.
Here is the order and how to get there.

서울에서 출발하신다면 청량리역이나 서울역에서 KTX를 타고 강릉역까지 약 2시간이 걸립니다.
From Seoul, the KTX from Cheongnyangni or Seoul Station reaches Gangneung Station in about two hours.

강릉역에서 향호해변까지는 택시로 약 20분, 시내버스로는 40분 안팎입니다.
From Gangneung Station, Hyangho Beach is about twenty minutes by taxi or roughly forty by city bus.

향호해변에서 삼척 맹방해변까지는 시외버스와 렌터카 두 가지 방법이 있습니다.
From Hyangho Beach to Maengbang Beach, you have two options: intercity bus or rental car.

렌터카는 약 1시간, 대중교통은 강릉에서 삼척까지 시외버스로 이동한 뒤 다시 시내버스로 갈아타야 해 1시간 30분에서 2시간을 잡으셔야 합니다.
By car it takes about an hour; by public transport you take an intercity bus to Samcheok and transfer to a city bus, so allow ninety minutes to two hours.

두 곳을 하루에 도실 계획이라면 렌터카를 권합니다.
If you plan to see both in one day, a rental car is the better choice.

시간 배분은 다음과 같이 잡으시면 무리가 없습니다.
Here is a schedule that leaves you unhurried.

오전에 서울 출발, 점심 무렵 강릉 도착, 오후 이른 시간 향호해변, 늦은 오후 맹방해변 순서입니다.
Leave Seoul in the morning, arrive in Gangneung around lunch, visit Hyangho Beach in the early afternoon, and Maengbang Beach in the late afternoon.

이렇게 하면 맹방해변에서 일몰을 볼 수 있습니다.
Timed this way, you catch the sunset at Maengbang.

숙박 없이 당일로 돌아오실 수도 있지만, 삼척이나 강릉에서 하룻밤 묵고 다음 날 동해안을 더 둘러보는 편이 여유롭습니다.
You can return the same day without staying over, but a night in Samcheok or Gangneung and another day along the coast is more relaxed.

The thing most often overlooked on a pilgrimage like this is timing.

같은 자리라도 해의 위치에 따라 사진이 완전히 달라집니다.
The same spot yields a completely different photo depending on where the sun sits.

향호해변은 오후, 맹방해변은 일몰 무렵이 가장 좋습니다.
Afternoon suits Hyangho Beach, and sunset suits Maengbang.

날씨 확인도 필수입니다.
Checking the weather is essential.

동해안은 바람이 강한 날이 많고, 해무가 끼면 수평선이 보이지 않습니다.
The east coast sees many windy days, and when sea fog rolls in the horizon disappears.

A1. 가능합니다. 다만 렌터카를 이용하시는 편이 좋습니다. 대중교통만으로 두 곳을 도시려면 이동에만 세 시간 이상이 들어 일정이 빠듯해집니다. 서울에서 오전에 출발해 오후에 두 곳을 도는 일정이면 당일 귀경도 가능합니다.
A1. Yes, though a rental car is advisable. Public transport alone means over three hours of travel between the two, which makes the day tight. Leaving Seoul in the morning and covering both in the afternoon still allows a same-day return.
