번역기가 놓치는 자리What the translator misses

맡기다와 부치다, 물건을 넘기는 두 방향

앞 소단락에서 쓴 경비실에 맡겨 주세요의 맡기다는 번역기에서 대개 leave로 나옵니다. 그러나 leave는 두고 온다는 뜻일 뿐이고, 맡기다에는 그 사람이 대신 지켜 준다는 뜻이 들어 있습니다. 그래서 세탁소에 맡기다, 아이를 맡기다처럼 사람에게 넘기는 자리에만 씁니다. 무인함처럼 사람이 없는 곳에는 맡기다 대신 넣다를 씁니다.The 맡기다 in 경비실에 맡겨 주세요 from the previous section usually comes back from a translator as leave. But leave only says you put it down and walked away, while 맡기다 carries the sense that the other person will keep it safe for you. That is why it goes with people: 세탁소에 맡기다, 아이를 맡기다. Where no person is involved, as with a parcel locker, Korean uses 넣다 instead.

부치다는 send로 옮겨지지만 보내다와 같은 말이 아닙니다. 우편이나 택배처럼 중간에 누군가가 옮겨 주는 방식으로 보낼 때만 씁니다. 편지를 부치다, 짐을 부치다처럼 쓰며, 사람을 보낼 때나 문자를 보낼 때는 쓰지 않습니다. 공항에서 짐을 부치다도 같은 계열입니다.부치다 also lands as send, but it is not interchangeable with 보내다. It is used only when something travels through a carrier: 편지를 부치다, 짐을 부치다. You do not use it for sending a person or a text message. Checking luggage at the airport, 짐을 부치다, belongs to the same family.
